The Consulate-General of France in Lagos is currently recruiting for the position of Press Officer (Press Attaché) to support its communication, media relations, and public information activities.

Role Overview
The Press Officer will be responsible for managing the Consulate’s communication activities, supporting media engagement, producing content for communication platforms, and monitoring socio-political developments in southern Nigeria. The role also includes supporting institutional events and strengthening the Consulate’s visibility across traditional and digital media platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Communication Management
• Support the overall communication strategy of the Consulate-General
• Monitor and engage with local media outlets, journalists, and influencers
• Organize and follow up on meetings with journalists and international correspondents
• Produce and update content for official communication platforms, including websites and social media channels
• Ensure timely publication and updating of communication materials under the supervision of the Consul General
Reporting & Monitoring
• Monitor and analyze economic, social, and political developments in southern Nigeria
• Prepare reports and summaries in coordination with the Embassy’s press and communication services
• Provide regular updates on relevant regional issues affecting diplomatic communication
Event & Institutional Communication
• Support the planning and execution of official events and institutional communication activities
• Assist in organizing national celebrations, goodwill messages, and public diplomacy events
• Contribute to enhancing the visibility of the Consulate through strategic communication efforts
Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong ability to verify and analyze information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to produce reports, briefs, and synthesis documents
• Strong social media management and digital communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Fluent French (mandatory, working language)
• Good command of English
• Strong teamwork, confidentiality, and professionalism
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a structured diplomatic environment
• Rigor, neutrality, and sense of public service
Requirements
• Must be resident in Nigeria with a valid work permit
• Proven experience in a similar administrative or communication role is required
• Strong fluency in French (written and spoken) is essential
Working Environment
The Press Officer will work within the Consulate-General of France in Lagos, alongside the Consul General, Head of Chancery, and other local staff, and will maintain regular contact with media organizations and institutional partners.
