    Location: Bonn or Berlin, Germany

    Contract: Part-time (80%) | Contract duration until April 30, 2029, with good prospects for extension

    This international role involves leading the design and implementation of MEAL systems tailored to Anticipatory Action, supporting partners across multiple countries, and generating robust evidence on effective strategies in proactive humanitarian response.

    Role Overview

    The MEAL & Research Expert will oversee the development, harmonization, and implementation of Anticipatory Action-specific MEAL systems across WAHAFA countries.

    The role involves systematic monitoring, evaluation, and fostering structured learning to ensure evidence-based impact assessment.

    The position offers technical support to partner organizations, enhances cross-country coherence, and collaborates closely with research institutions to ensure data meets scientific standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    MEAL System Support and Implementation:
    Ensure the ongoing development and refinement of WAHAFA’s MEAL framework in collaboration with the WHH Head Office MEAL team and partner organizations.

    Learning, Evidence, and Knowledge Management:
    Facilitate cross-organizational learning workshops, capture lessons learned, and support the dissemination of best practices and case studies to contribute to global evidence in Anticipatory Action.

    Evaluations and Quality Assurance:
    Coordinate external evaluations for the WAHAFA program’s second phase and oversee quality assurance across all MEAL activities, including data collection and reporting.

    Research Partnerships and Academic Collaboration:
    Maintain partnerships with universities, research institutes, and think tanks to promote evidence generation, incorporate methodological innovations, and integrate findings into strategic programming.

    Candidate Profile

    • University degree in social sciences, humanitarian action, or a related field
    • Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in MEAL or research within humanitarian or anticipatory action contexts

    • Proven experience in development humanitarian MEAL systems, participatory methods, and impact assessments
    • Willingness to travel to project countries and work in diverse settings
    • Fluency in English and French
