About the Position

The Programme Policy Officer (Climate Resilience) will support the design, implementation, coordination, and management of climate resilience programmes within WFP Tanzania’s Country Strategic Plan (2022–2028).

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Activity 7 Manager, providing technical guidance on landscape rehabilitation, natural resource management, regenerative agriculture, and resilience-building interventions.

This position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, under a 12-month Service Contract (SC9).

Key Responsibilities

The Programme Policy Officer will play a central role in implementing and expanding WFP’s climate resilience portfolio.

Project Management

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in:

A postgraduate qualification is considered an advantage.

Required Experience

Candidates should have:

• At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience.
• Experience in climate adaptation or mitigation.
• Experience in natural resource management.
• Experience in agriculture or sustainable development.
• Experience working on food security programmes.
• Knowledge of rural livelihoods and poverty reduction initiatives.

Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

• Nutrition-sensitive programming

Previous knowledge of WFP’s Three-Pronged Approach (3PA) and participatory development methodologies is considered an asset. Familiarity with UN systems and procedures is also advantageous.
