Overview
Clear Solutions, a mission-driven NGO focused on reducing child mortality from diarrhoea, seeks a Research and Impact Evaluation Lead to oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of its programmatic data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the research process from defining questions, selecting methods, configuring data collection tools, and implementing field surveys.
- Conduct robust statistical analyses, including multi-stage cluster sampling, power calculations, regression models, and Difference-in-Differences analysis.
- Translate findings into practical recommendations that optimize program delivery and child survival outcomes.
- Develop tools to monitor data collection quality, including automated checks for GPS errors or spurious data patterns.
- Troubleshoot technical issues to maintain high standards across data collection partners.
- Clean, manage, and analyze primary data using R or Python.
- Apply advanced epidemiological and biostatistical methods to generate causal insights from field data.
- Ensure monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data directly inform program strategy and cost-effectiveness models.
- Collaborate with partners to enhance existing M&E systems without creating operational burdens.
- Author clear internal and external reports that communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support decision-making through evidence-based recommendations for program scaling and improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field (Master’s/MPH/MSc preferred).
- 2+ years of professional or academic experience in M&E, quantitative research, or impact evaluation, ideally in public health or international development.
- Proficiency in R or Python for data cleaning, analysis, and statistical modeling.
- Solid understanding of quantitative research methodologies, including household-level sampling strategies, power calculations, and causal inference models.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Bonus Skills: Experience with SurveyCTO, Kobo Toolbox, or ODK; GIS experience using QGIS or ArcGIS; prior experience in global health or social impact contexts.
Benefits
- Contract Type: Contractor, 18 months initial term (possible extension).
- Location: Remote, within a 3-hour time difference from the UK; occasional travel to the UK (1-4 times/year).
