    Job Summary

    Youth RISE is hiring a High Level Communications and Advocacy Programme Lead for a fully remote consultancy.

    The successful candidate will spearhead engagement with international organizations, manage external communications, and lead high-level advocacy initiatives.

    The role offers a competitive consultancy fee of $8,332 USD for four months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.

    About Youth RISE

    Youth RISE is a youth-led organization committed to advocating for young people who use drugs and marginalized populations.

    The organization seeks a dynamic professional to lead its strategic advocacy and communications efforts at national, regional, and international levels.

    Essential Criteria

    • Age 34 or younger at the time of application (organizational policy for youth-led teams)
    • Strong understanding of Youth RISE’s work and mission
    • Proven experience working in online environments
    • Solution-oriented mindset with an ability to identify and address efficiency gaps

    • Demonstrated project management skills, capable of managing multiple responsibilities
    • Extensive experience in drug policy advocacy and human rights advocacy
    • Knowledge of intersectional needs of young people who use drugs and marginalized groups

    • Basic understanding of intergovernmental organizations like the UN and civil society engagement
    • Non-judgmental attitude towards stigmatized populations
    • High cultural competence and diplomatic skills
    • Proficiency in English

    • Experience with WordPress content management
    • Social media content creation and editing skills (Canva preferred)
    • Strong writing and editing capabilities for policy briefs, press releases, speeches, etc.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

    Preferred Criteria

    • Lived experience as a young person who uses drugs or impacted by punitive drug policies
    • Willingness to learn Canva and other digital tools
    • Experience with Slack and Google Drive

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    Strategic Advocacy Leadership

    • Guide Youth RISE’s advocacy agenda by identifying high-impact opportunities
    • Develop and oversee organizational position papers and statements for UN and regional bodies
    • Support speech writing for advocacy efforts

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Map and build relationships with decision-makers at local, regional, and international levels
    • Elevate perspectives of young people who use drugs in policy discussions

    Communications Management

    • Provide strategic input on social media and website content
    • Produce and review digital content, including blogs, videos, and social media posts
    • Ensure all external communications align with advocacy goals

    Research and Policy Dissemination

    • Assist in reviewing and writing research outputs for policy impact

    Organizational Compliance

    • Complete monitoring, reporting, and documentation as per Youth RISE protocols
    • Attend meetings, contribute to team operations, and represent Youth RISE at events

    Fundraising and Sustainability

    • Participate in fundraising activities to support organizational sustainability
