Overview

The Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) recognizes exceptional young researchers from developing countries for their excellence in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related fields. Established in 2007, the award aims to encourage innovation and strengthen global scientific collaboration.

Eligibility

• Researchers from a developing country or territory.
• Under 40 years old as of January 1, 2026.
• Affiliated with a non-Japanese research institute or university.
• Actively engaged in research and development related to agriculture, forestry, fisheries, or related industries in developing regions.
• Demonstrated outstanding performance in research that benefits agricultural development, or achieved research results with strong potential for future technological innovation.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted by the recommending research institutes (Japanese or non-Japanese). Each institute may recommend only one researcher. Nomination packages must include all required forms and supporting documentation.
