Overview

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has announced the opening of its Doctoral Award (Cohort 3), a competitive funding opportunity designed to support early-career researchers in pursuing a PhD by research.

Eligibility

• Demonstrate prior research experience or training suitable for PhD-level study
• Not already hold a PhD by research
• Secure or propose employment with an eligible organisation, such as:
  • A recognised Higher Education Institution (HEI)
  • An NHS body
  • A local authority
  • A publicly or third-sector funded health or social care provider in England
• Applicants already enrolled in a PhD must not have exceeded 12 months of full-time study at the proposed start date
• Research proposals must align with NIHR’s remit for personal career development awards
• Applicants undertaking clinical/practice time must include a partner organisation in their application
