    Overview

    The Nordic Africa Institute African Scholarship Programme offers early-career researchers based in Africa the opportunity to conduct research in Sweden for two to three months, supporting their projects and academic development.

    Eligibility

    - PhD Students enrolled in an Africa-based doctoral program, employed full-time at an African university or research centre, and without access to international funding. - Postdoctoral Researchers who have completed their PhD within the last four years and hold a position at an African university or research centre. Research focusing on gender issues, the position of women in society, and topics aligned with the UN Agenda 2030 are encouraged.

    Benefits

    - Return airfare (economy class) - Accommodation - Daily subsistence allowance (450 SEK) - Installation grant (2,500 SEK) - Access to a shared workspace, the Institute’s library, Uppsala University Library, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Library. - Minimum stay of 60 days and a maximum of 90 days.

    How to Apply

    Submit applications online with the following documents: - Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a list of publications. - Research Proposal (5 pages) including introduction, aims, literature review, methodology, implications, and references. - Work Plan (1 page) outlining objectives and expected outcomes. - Letters of Support: From supervisor/department head for PhD students, or department head/institute for postdocs. Applications must be in English. Proposals developed using AI tools may be disadvantaged.
