    Nourish Nova Scotia is inviting applications for a full-time Communications Coordinator to lead the organisation’s communications strategy, digital storytelling, and public engagement initiatives.     Position Overview

    The Communications Coordinator serves as the organisation’s sole communications lead, combining strategic planning with hands-on content creation and project management.

    The position is based in Nova Scotia, with preference given to applicants residing in the Halifax Regional Municipality, where Nourish Nova Scotia maintains its office. Team members based in Halifax work under a hybrid work arrangement.

    Employment details include:

    • Permanent, full-time position.
    • 35 working hours per week.
    • Annual salary of CAD $60,060–$65,520.
    • Cost-shared employee benefits plan.
    • Three weeks of annual vacation.
    • Ten paid sick and wellness days each year.
    • Additional paid office closure between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

    Key Responsibilities

    Working closely with the Executive Director, Community Giving Manager, and programme teams, the Communications Coordinator will oversee a wide range of communications activities.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Implementing and strengthening the organisation’s communications strategy.
    • Planning, creating, and managing content across multiple social media platforms.
    • Monitoring social media engagement and analysing performance metrics.
    • Developing compelling stories that showcase programme impact.
    • Producing accessible and engaging communications for diverse audiences.
    • Designing digital and print communication materials.
    • Creating promotional resources, reports, and educational content.
    • Managing and updating the organisation’s WordPress website.
    • Coordinating multiple communications projects simultaneously.
    • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging.
    • Using digital collaboration tools to improve workflow efficiency.

    Supporting Youth-Friendly Storytelling

    The successful candidate will be responsible for translating programme outcomes and community experiences into compelling stories that resonate with young people and the wider public.

    The organisation is seeking an individual who can:

    • Write engaging content across multiple platforms.
    • Develop creative campaigns that strengthen brand awareness.
    • Produce visually appealing communication materials.
    • Maintain a consistent and accessible organisational voice.
    • Create youth-focused digital content that encourages participation and engagement.

    Essential Qualifications and Skills

    • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Strong writing and editing skills for multiple audiences.
    • Experience managing social media platforms and interpreting analytics.
    • Excellent project coordination and organisational skills.
    • Proficiency in Canva and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to use or quickly learn digital collaboration platforms such as Notion, Dropbox, SharePoint, and Mentimeter.
    • Basic graphic design skills for branded communications.
    • Experience maintaining websites using WordPress.
    • Ability to analyse digital engagement data and improve communication strategies.
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

    Preferred Assets

    While not mandatory, the following qualifications will strengthen an application:

    • Photography and videography skills.
    • Ability to edit visual content for digital platforms.
    • Experience creating infographics and promotional materials.
    • Fluency in spoken and written French.
