    Overview

    Conservation International is hiring a Senior Manager, Ocean Policy to support the development and implementation of international ocean policy strategies. This role involves representing CI in policy meetings, fostering partnerships, and advancing ocean policy in priority countries.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage strategic policy initiatives aligned with CI’s Ocean Policy goals.
    • Collaborate with the Center for Policy and Incentives to align policy strategies.
    • Play a key role in project development, fundraising, implementation, and capacity building.
    • Contribute to policy documents, briefs, and technical resources.
    • Represent CI at international policy meetings (e.g., UNFCCC COP).
    • Build and maintain relationships with government officials and organizations.
    • Partner with country programs to develop and implement regional and national ocean policies.
    • Provide technical support and capacity building for integrating coastal ecosystems into policies.
    • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and events with governments and stakeholders.
    • Contribute to strategy development, planning, fundraising, and program initiatives for the Blue Climate Program.
    • Coordinate with cross-team efforts to ensure programmatic alignment.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • 5 to 7 years of experience in international climate and/or ocean policy mechanisms.
    • Understanding of government processes and policy engagement.
    • Strong organization, project management, and prioritization skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Ability to work independently and in diverse international teams.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Preferred: Bilingual or multilingual in official UN languages.
    • Preferred: Expertise in coastal blue carbon, marine ecosystems, climate science, or nature-based solutions.
    • Preferred: Master’s or advanced degree in environmental policy or related field.
    • Preferred: Experience working across different cultural and geographic settings.
