    Job Summary

    The Better Care Network (BCN) is seeking experienced consultants or teams to synthesize evidence on interventions aimed at preventing and addressing violence against children (VAC) in alternative care settings.

    The assignment involves producing a comprehensive report analyzing recent and ongoing interventions, with a focus on effectiveness, sustainability, and scalability.

    Scope of Work

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review and analyze existing evidence and documentation on interventions tackling VAC within alternative care environments.
    • Organize findings using a systematic framework categorizing types of care, violence, interventions, and literature sources.

    • Identify key lessons, gaps, and best practices to inform future strategies.
    • Develop country case studies illustrating specific interventions and national efforts.
    • Provide strategic recommendations for filling evidence gaps and improving intervention effectiveness.

    Deliverables:

    • Implementation plan with activities and timelines
    • Analytical framework for organizing findings
    • Inclusion/exclusion checklist for evidence review
    • Draft report with evidence synthesis and recommendations
    • Final report incorporating feedback from the VAC and Care Working Group

    Candidate/Team Profile

    • Minimum master’s degree in relevant fields
    • At least 5 years of research and documentation experience related to VAC, child protection, and alternative care
    • Extensive knowledge of international standards and policies in child protection

    • Experience working across diverse contexts (humanitarian, development, low-, middle-, and high-income countries)
    • Familiarity with human rights mechanisms and monitoring processes
    • Excellent command of English; multilingual abilities (Arabic, French, Spanish) are advantageous
    • Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly to policymakers and practitioners
