    Role Overview

    The Creative & Cultural Advocacy Lead will become part of the Creative & Cultural Advocacy Team within the Corporate Affairs department. Working across multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will help design and deliver advocacy initiatives that use arts, culture, and creative storytelling to build public understanding and encourage decision-makers to support Wellcome’s strategic priorities, particularly its Climate and Health programme.

    The role involves collaborating with experts across communications, policy, research, partnerships, and the Wellcome Collection while building relationships with artists, cultural organisations, producers, commissioners, and creative leaders across the United Kingdom and internationally.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful applicant will lead the development and delivery of ambitious creative advocacy programmes designed to influence policy, engage communities, and strengthen public support for Wellcome’s mission.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Developing innovative creative and cultural advocacy strategies.
    • Leading high-impact public engagement programmes.
    • Managing projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
    • Overseeing governance, project management, budgeting, and risk management.
    • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams across the organisation.
    • Designing advocacy events and cultural experiences.
    • Building strategic partnerships with creative and cultural organisations.
    • Identifying new opportunities to expand audience engagement.
    • Supporting communications and policy campaigns through cultural initiatives.
    • Strengthening internal collaboration across departments.
    • Leading, mentoring, and developing team members.
    • Contributing to long-term strategic planning for the Creative & Cultural Advocacy Team.
