Customer Engineer @Mixpanel

Overview

The Customer Engineer at Mixpanel is responsible for managing the pre-sales technical journey and ensuring that clients understand the technical capabilities of the product. The role requires close collaboration with Account Executives and Delivery Engineers to drive customer outcomes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery to establish the prospect's business challenges and qualification before committing to a proof of concept (POC).
• Design and deliver tailored, research-backed demos connecting Mixpanel's capabilities to specific business outcomes.
• Establish technical fit by confirming that the prospect's stack matches and scoping POC requirements.
• Own competitive technical positioning against alternatives such as Amplitude and PostHog.
• Run structured POCs with defined success criteria, a focus metric, and a handoff package for the Delivery Engineer.
• Return post-sale for cross-sell and strategic expansion requiring new technical evaluations.
• Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy and technical objection handling.
• Maintain collaboration with Delivery Engineers to ensure POCs reflect production realities.

Requirements

• 2–4+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a technical pre-sales role at a B2B SaaS company.
• Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, or related domains.
• Strong commercial instinct with a focus on winning deals.
• Ability to run structured POCs with measurable outcomes.
• Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competitive knowledge of the analytics landscape or ability to develop it quickly.
• Humble, hungry, smart, and accountable attitude.
