Customer Support Specialist, Payroll and Taxes @Gusto

Overview

Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy by handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR tasks. The company is seeking a Customer Support Specialist focused on Payroll and Taxes to deliver exceptional customer experiences to small business owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with small business owners to resolve inquiries via email, chat, and live phone shifts.
• Stay updated on product features to communicate effectively with customers.
• Adapt quickly to changes in a fast-paced environment while solving customer issues.
• Expand critical thinking and deepen knowledge of Payroll and Tax products.
• Collaborate with fellow advocates and contribute to product development.
• Be flexible during annual volume spikes from December through March, taking on additional weekend overtime.
• Approach each customer interaction with a solution-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• Minimum 1+ years in the payroll industry with understanding of taxes and compliance.
• At least 2 years in a customer-facing role.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong affinity for working with numbers.
• Proficient in GSuite and Mac; familiarity with Salesforce, JIRA, and Slack is a bonus.
• Capable of thriving in a team environment.
• Proactive self-starter with strong critical thinking skills.
• Dependable and ethical with strong conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with a passion for technical concepts.

Location

Remote with the requirement for a secure internet connection when working from a non-office location. Office presence is required for those based in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City for 2-3 days per week, depending on the role.
