    This fully remote role involves coordinating donor-funded projects, strengthening greenhouse gas inventories and MRV systems, and building global capacity for emissions measurement and management.

    Position Overview

    The Program Officer will play a key role in implementing international climate capacity-building projects, supporting technical activities, fostering stakeholder relationships, and contributing to GHG reporting and mitigation strategies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program and Project Support

    • Develop and track project work plans and deliverables
    • Coordinate technical activities, meetings, and online collaborations
    • Support grant reporting and ensure compliance with donor policies

    • Lead or participate in new grant proposal development
    • Identify opportunities for project improvements and efficiencies
    • Draft scopes of work for technical consultants and partners

    Technical Delivery

    • Provide expert support on GHG inventories, MRV, and mitigation assessments
    • Develop training materials on climate measurement topics
    • Utilize analytical tools and software for GHG accounting
    • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences

    External Representation

    • Maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders
    • Represent GHGMI at conferences, webinars, and through publications
    • Provide thought leadership on emerging climate topics

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, economics, public policy, or related field
    • 3-5 years of experience supporting climate projects, GHG accounting, or international development
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills

    • Experience managing donor-funded projects
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
    • Excellent English communication skills; proficiency in another UN language (French or Spanish) is a plus
    • Willingness to travel internationally

    Preferred

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field
    • Experience with the Paris Agreement, Enhanced Transparency Framework, or national climate reporting
    • Skills in developing GHG inventories, mitigation assessments, and carbon markets

    • Experience with technical training delivery and software tools
    • Proven success in grant proposal writing
