Overview
Join the IPCC as a Science Officer in the Working Group II Technical Support Unit based at the College of the Integrative Studies, Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in scoping, preparing, reviewing, and finalizing the IPCC Special Report on Cities and Climate Change.
- Support the development of the Working Group II Assessment Report of the 7th Assessment Cycle.
- Ensure the scientific integrity and quality of IPCC reports.
- Facilitate planning, conduct, and reporting of IPCC meetings, workshops, and expert sessions.
- Contribute scientifically to meetings to promote informed decision-making.
- Develop and implement scientific plans, including technical guidelines for assessing climate impacts and adaptation strategies.
- Support the creation of outreach materials to communicate scientific findings effectively to stakeholders.
- Assist in reporting scientific outcomes of activities and meetings.
- Engage in other assigned tasks supporting the objectives of Working Group II.
Requirements
- Recent PhD or Master’s degree in climate change impacts, adaptation, or vulnerability.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-degree work experience.
- Proven record of scientific publications related to climate adaptation or Working Group II topics.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Strong scientific report writing and editing skills.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking capabilities.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, suitable for academic publishing.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with precision and efficiency.
- Willingness to travel internationally for meetings and workshops.
- Experience with UN processes, especially IPCC, is advantageous.
