The Food Justice for Kids Prize 2026 offers grants of up to $100,000 over two years to U.S. nonprofits, Tribal entities, schools, and school districts working to ensure children have access to nutritious, culturally relevant food in schools and communities. It is powered by Newman’s Own Foundation, Humanitix, The Henry P. Kendall Foundation, and the Hunger to Health Collaboratory.

Key Responsibilities

The Prize supports projects and policy work focused on:

• Indigenous Food Justice: Advancing food sovereignty for Indigenous children, reconnecting them with traditional food systems, supporting the gathering/growing/cooking of Indigenous foods, and restoring cultural knowledge related to food.
• Nutrition Education & School Food: Providing nutrition education, promoting culturally relevant school meals, integrating local food systems, improving school meal access, and encouraging hands-on food growing/cooking initiatives.
