    The United States Mission to Nigeria is inviting applications for the position of Fraud Prevention Assistant at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos under announcement number Lagos 2026 003RA S. This is a full time position based in Lagos.

    The role involves conducting extensive anti fraud investigations in support of consular operations. The successful candidate will carry out document analysis phone and in person interviews verification of case details with relevant authorities and site visits. The investigations focus on assessing facts that influence decisions on citizenship and immigration benefits. The officer will also be responsible for summarizing complex investigative findings into clear and concise reports to support consular officers in adjudication and decision making processes.

    The position requires strong independent judgment attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

    Applicants may qualify through two pathways. Option one requires a university degree in Law Psychology Forensics Economics or Criminology along with a minimum of four years of investigative or research experience in organizations such as the police courts law firms insurance companies or government agencies. Option two requires at least six years of similar experience and a minimum of two years of university education. NYSC certification is required where applicable.

    Candidates must be fluent in English and possess a strong understanding of the Nigerian legal system official documentation cultural practices and social structures. Excellent interpersonal communication and analytical skills are essential along with the ability to conduct interviews review documents and produce clear written reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.
