Overview
This position offers an opportunity to work as a Geochemical Modeler for InPlanet, a ClimateTech startup dedicated to reversing climate change through enhanced rock weathering in agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain in-house models for ERW processes in soil, groundwater, surface water, and ocean zones.
- Parameterize and validate models with experimental data tailored to Brazilian conditions.
- Conduct simulations to estimate weathering rates, carbon sequestration, and transport of weathering products.
- Analyze simulation results to optimize deployment strategies and assess environmental impacts.
- Foster external scientific collaborations for model enhancement.
- Communicate findings via reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
Requirements
- PhD or relevant experience in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Geochemistry, Hydrology, or related fields.
- 3+ years of experience in reactive transport, agro-ecosystem, or hydrological modeling.
- Strong understanding of geochemical and hydrological processes in soil systems.
- Programming expertise in Python or Fortran.
- Experience with high-performance computing resources.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
