    The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking applications for a home-based Graphics Designer consultancy to support a major climate resilience and ecosystem restoration project in Malawi.

    The six-month consultancy offers experienced design professionals the opportunity to work remotely with a leading UN agency while contributing to communications and visibility efforts for a large-scale environmental and climate adaptation initiative.

    Work Remotely With the United Nations

    The position is fully home-based and falls under FAO’s Personal Services Agreement (PSA) framework. The initial contract duration is six months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

    The selected consultant will support the design and production of communication materials for the Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Resilient Watersheds and Communities in Malawi (EbAM) project.

    About the Malawi Climate Resilience Project

    Implemented by FAO in partnership with the Government of Malawi and funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the EbAM project aims to strengthen climate resilience among vulnerable communities and ecosystems.

    The six-year initiative is expected to:

    • Benefit more than 500,000 people in rural Malawi
    • Restore, conserve, or improve management of over 250,000 hectares of land
    • Support sustainable agricultural and agroforestry systems
    • Promote climate-resilient livelihoods
    • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 2.75 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent

    The project is being implemented across 11 districts in Malawi and focuses on ecosystem-based adaptation approaches that improve environmental sustainability while enhancing community resilience.

    Role of the Graphics Designer

    The consultant will help increase the project’s visibility by creating professional communication materials aligned with FAO branding and project identity guidelines.

    The successful candidate will work closely with FAO communications teams and project specialists to design high-quality visual products.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Graphics Designer will be responsible for:

    • Designing communication and visibility materials
    • Creating professional templates and layouts
    • Developing visual concepts for project publications
    • Producing artwork for promotional materials
    • Ensuring all products comply with FAO branding guidelines
    • Revising and refining designs based on feedback

    The consultant will develop a range of communication products, including:

    • Project banners
    • Posters
    • T-shirts and branded apparel
    • Golf shirts and work suits
    • Caps and promotional merchandise
    • Newsletters
    • Booklets
    • Infographics
    • Presentation templates

    The role requires a strong ability to communicate complex development and environmental information through engaging visual content.

    Who Can Apply?

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from a recognized institution
    • At least five years of professional graphic design experience
