The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Wikimedia Foundation are offering the Open the Knowledge Journalism Awards to recognize African journalists whose reporting expands Wikipedia's coverage of Africa. The awards aim to encourage high-quality journalism that addresses knowledge gaps about the continent.
African journalists based in Africa. Submissions must be articles published in 2025 in English or French, addressing one of the focus areas: Women and youth, Arts and culture, Heritage, or Sports. Only one submission per applicant is permitted.
Eligible journalists must submit their applications before 1 March 2026. Applications are open from 2 February 2026 and must include the nominated article published in 2025. Visit the official website to apply.
