    The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is inviting qualified individuals to apply for an exciting consultancy opportunity to support the development and delivery of key international ocean science reports.

    Job Title: Individual Consultant – Ocean Science Reports Support
    Job Location: Remote / UNESCO Office (if space available)
    Closing Date: 6 July 2026, 17:00 CEST
    Contract: Full-time, 6.5 months

    This role involves coordinating with expert groups, facilitating report production and review processes, and contributing to global ocean knowledge for policy and decision-making.

    Role Highlights

    • Support the delivery of the Global Ocean Science Report (GOSR) and State of the Ocean Report (StOR)
    • Coordinate with international expert groups, review teams, and editorial boards

    • Facilitate report production, peer review, and publication processes
    • Contribute to outreach, communication, and post-publication evaluation
    • Help strengthen global ocean science knowledge for policy and sustainable development

    Responsibilities

    • Organize and communicate meetings for the GOSR and StOR advisory and review teams
    • Facilitate communication between UNESCO Secretariat and report teams
    • Support multi-stage review and publication processes, including editing and layout

    • Assist with post-publication evaluation to improve future reports
    • Maintain document control and support IOC Secretariat tasks as needed

    Key Deliverables

    • Work plan and monthly progress reports
    • Support for meetings, reviews, and communication

    • Final comprehensive report on activities and lessons learned
    • Assistance with publication and outreach activities

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, communication, or related field
    • Minimum of 2 years experience supporting international agencies or projects
    • Strong organizational, coordination, and data management skills

    • Experience supporting publication and communication of high-quality reports
    • Proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of French, Spanish, or Russian is a plus
    • Familiarity with UNESCO, IOC, or ocean science reporting is preferred

    Methodology & Approach

    Applicants should provide a clear methodology outlining their approach to managing report coordination, review processes, and communication strategies, demonstrating flexibility and relevance to the assignment’s objectives.
