    Overview

    The ITLOS – Nippon Foundation Capacity-Building and Training Programme is a fully funded fellowship focused on dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). It aims to enhance the legal skills and practical knowledge of junior to mid-level government officials and researchers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Participants will engage in lectures, training sessions, workshops, study visits, and research related to the law of the sea and dispute settlement.

    Requirements

    • Aged 25–40 years.
    • First university degree in law.
    • Demonstrated capacity for independent scientific research.
    • Junior to mid-level government official or researcher working on ocean-related or maritime legal matters.
    • Excellent knowledge of English and French (programme mainly in English).
    • Indicate a research topic relevant to UNCLOS implementation.
