Overview
ARIA, a project hosted by the Meliore Foundation, is seeking a dedicated Senior Steel Analyst to join its international team. The role focuses on monitoring the steel industry’s decarbonisation efforts, conducting investigations, producing impactful research, and developing campaigns to promote cleaner steel production.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor decarbonisation developments in the steel industry and attend conferences for insights.
- Conduct high-quality research and analysis on steel and climate change.
- Develop concise, credible briefings to shape debates on steel sector decarbonisation.
- Oversee and edit research outputs produced by the Steel Analyst.
- Maintain and develop a network of industry contacts, civil society partners, and media outlets.
- Collaborate with coalitions to achieve shared climate objectives.
- Contribute to strategic planning, including harnessing AI tools for research.
- Lead and manage a small team of analysts and investigators focused on steel decarbonisation.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in running or overseeing impactful campaigns targeting corporate, public, or government change.
- Strong research, investigative, and media skills to effect policy or industry change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated networking and collaboration skills with partner organisations.
- Fluency in English with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and well-sourced materials.
- Good organisational and project management skills, including budget management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or knowledge of the steel or coal industries.
- Supply chain tracing expertise.
- Media engagement experience.
- Document editing and team oversight skills.
- Fluency in additional languages.
- Fundraising experience and managing funder relations.
- Familiarity with AI research tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, international environment.
