INTERSOS operates in several countries delivering humanitarian programs in sectors such as protection health education and emergency response.
INTERSOS is currently seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Head of Field Office to support its operations in Magumeri and Monguno in Borno State. The successful candidate will provide overall leadership and coordination of humanitarian interventions within the assigned field office. In addition, they will ensure effective management of operational support functions. The candidate will also help with monitoring of project activities.
The Head of Field Office will oversee the daily management of the field office and guesthouse facilities. They will ensure that office operations including utilities, communication equipment, security, logistics, and fleet management function effectively. Moreover, the role involves coordinating staff movement, supporting project implementation, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. This includes safeguarding and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse standards.
The position also requires regular monitoring of project activities in collaboration with program teams to ensure that interventions are implemented according to work plans and community needs. The officer will support the management of complaints and feedback mechanisms. Additionally, they will document field level success stories and ensure effective communication between field staff and the country office.
As the security focal point for the field office, the Head of Field Office will monitor the local security situation and provide updates on staff safety. They will also report incidents and coordinate with relevant authorities and partners to ensure staff security. The role also involves representing INTERSOS in coordination meetings. Furthermore, the role includes maintaining strong relationships with government authorities, community leaders, internally displaced persons representatives, and humanitarian partners.
Applicants must possess a university degree in any field with at least 4 years of progressive experience in humanitarian programme implementation. This must include at least 2 years in a middle management role. Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills as well as proficiency in computer applications are required. Fluency in English and relevant local languages will be an added advantage.
