About the Role
The Nature Conservancy is seeking a strategic and experienced Deputy Director of Web Strategy & Operations to lead the organization’s enterprise web initiatives.
This role is vital in unifying and evolving global digital experiences, including nature.org and Conservation Gateway, into a performance-driven, audience-centered ecosystem that aligns with TNC’s mission and 2030 goals.
The successful candidate will oversee web performance, strategic direction, and digital transformation efforts across TNC’s web properties, ensuring operational excellence, governance, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Web Strategy and Leadership
- Lead enterprise web strategy, including multiyear roadmaps, platform alignment, and campaign planning
- Drive web consolidation, migration, and governance to mitigate risks
- Establish and enforce global standards for content, accessibility, QA, and workflows
- Leverage analytics and KPIs for performance optimization
- Oversee site performance, SEO, experimentation, and A/B testing
Digital Transformation and Innovation
- Partner with Marketing Technology to align web strategy with platform goals
- Manage integration of AI-powered capabilities such as personalization and automation
- Support global web operations for over 230 authors across regions and languages
- Lead cross-functional teams in complex projects and initiatives
Stakeholder and Vendor Management
- Collaborate with key stakeholder groups to optimize user journeys
- Oversee vendor relationships, budgets, and resource planning
- Serve as enterprise web subject matter expert, advising on trends and risk mitigation
Team and Operational Management
- Manage web production and SEO teams
- Provide matrixed leadership for multiyear initiatives
- Supervise staff and promote a positive, inclusive work culture
- Support training, community of practice, and scalable production models
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of 9 years experience or equivalent combination
- Proven leadership in web strategy or large-scale digital operations
- Experience managing teams and complex projects
- Strong analytical, KPI, and reporting skills
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences
Preferred:
- Experience in global NGOs or multinational organizations, especially with multilingual content
- Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
- Knowledge of governance standards, enterprise web operations, and digital transformation
- Experience with AI integration and digital compliance frameworks
- Multilingual skills are an asset
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $99,705 – $149,600 (USD, USA-based candidates)
