Position Summary

The Senior Director of Global Programs will lead and shape the strategies, partnerships, and funding practices that strengthen global movement ecosystems.

This senior leadership role involves guiding regional teams, fostering transnational solidarity, and ensuring alignment with organizational visions for climate, economic, and food justice.

The position includes managing a team of four, including three Regional Directors and a Cross-Regional Coordinator, and requires up to 40% travel.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership (25%)

• Analyze political and philanthropic landscapes to inform strategy implementation
• Support regional teams in operationalizing movement priorities
• Develop tools and processes for collaborative work
• Facilitate collective reflection to refine organizational strategies

Programmatic and Partnership Leadership (50%)

• Oversee annual workplans and budgets
• Guide partnership practices to strengthen movement resilience
• Design spaces for cross-regional movement connection and solidarity
• Maintain knowledge of emerging policy and research trends

Staff Management and Development (20%)

• Attract, develop, and retain high-performing team members
• Provide supervision, coaching, and feedback
• Foster an organizational culture of trust, learning, and care
• Promote a healthy, collaborative work environment

Organizational Collaboration (5%)

• Support cross-team activities, retreats, and trainings
• Contribute to organizational initiatives such as fundraising and organizational development
• Manage administrative responsibilities and additional tasks as needed

Candidate Profile

• 10-15 years of experience in global programs with demonstrated impact
• Deep commitment to social justice and movement-building in the Global South
• Strategic thinker with strong implementation skills

• Relationship builder capable of working across cultures and political contexts
• Excellent communicator with storytelling and narrative-shaping abilities
• Experienced people manager promoting team growth and collaboration

• Adaptive, proactive, and comfortable working remotely with a diverse team
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% internationally
• Experience with philanthropy, climate justice, economic justice, or food sovereignty is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $152,000 USD annually
• Benefits include:
