Job Summary
Magamba Network is seeking a strategic, creative leader to coordinate a network of young African climate activists and creators, driving campaigns that challenge fossil-fuel influence, disinformation, and sportswashing, and champion a just, Indigenous-rooted renewable-energy transition for Africa.
The role involves developing campaigns, managing teams, building partnerships, supporting advocacy, overseeing storytelling, monitoring, reporting, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight and Planning
- Coordinate the Fired Up network of young African climate justice activists and creators
- Develop innovative campaigns to challenge fossil fuel companies’ reputation laundering and sportswashing
- Raise awareness about the need for a just energy transition rooted in Indigenous knowledge
- Support information integrity and combat climate disinformation
- Incubate a new generation of climate activists using creative platforms
- Align campaign goals with organizational objectives
Project Management
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of activists, creatives, and content creators
- Foster an inclusive team environment
- Manage resources, budgets, and campaign participants
- Oversee editorial policies and capacity-building initiatives
- Organize outreach programs, workshops, and events
- Monitor project progress, compile reports, and support fundraising efforts
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain networks with climate advocates, CSOs, media, and social movements
- Facilitate partnerships and collaborations
- Represent Magamba Network at conferences and public forums
Advocacy and Policy Influence
- Lead regional and continental advocacy efforts
- Develop policy briefs and position papers
- Engage policymakers for renewable energy legislation
- Organize Africa-wide actions to meet campaign goals
Storytelling & Communications
- Develop communication strategies with the storytelling team
- Produce flagship content and coordinate social media strategies
- Manage media relations and digital outreach
- Create multimedia content to support campaigns
Research and Analysis
- Analyze climate science and data to inform strategies
- Stay updated on climate policy and renewable energy advancements
General
- Adhere to organizational policies
- Contribute to team objectives
- Assist in revenue generation and fundraising
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or professional qualification in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, International Development, Human Rights, Political Science, Creative Writing, or related field
- At least three years of relevant experience in climate justice, advocacy, creative campaigning, or youth movement-building
- Experience coordinating multi-country or Africa-wide campaigns involving youth and civil society
Added Advantage
- Knowledge of climate disinformation and fact-checking
- Interest or experience in Indigenous knowledge systems and decolonial approaches
- Sensitivity to Indigenous and frontline communities’ safeguarding
- Proficiency in French or Portuguese is a plus
