Communications Manager Responsibilities

The Communications Manager will contribute to the delivery of Sightsavers’ global communications strategy while supporting thematic communications initiatives.

• Managing external stakeholders and partners around major communications activities.

Eligibility and Required Experience

Sightsavers is seeking an experienced communications professional who can demonstrate a strong track record of delivering communications strategies, plans and activities.

Essential requirements include:

• Demonstrable experience delivering global communications strategies and campaigns.
• Project management experience and evidence of achieving results.
• Experience in the international development or humanitarian sector.
• Strong awareness of and commitment to social justice.
• Experience working on communications initiatives focused on inclusion.
• Experience designing and managing communications budgets.
• Strong understanding of inclusive and accessible communications.
• Experience managing a team.
• Experience working within a global team.
• Commitment to disability and gender inclusion.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Fluency in at least one relevant local language: Swahili, Hausa, Bemba/Nyanja or Twi.
• Strong strategic thinking and adaptability.
• Ability to manage several projects and deadlines.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Ability to delegate effectively and make decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Working proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is listed as a desirable qualification.
