The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are fully funded postgraduate opportunities for students from eligible countries to study in New Zealand in 2027. Funded by the Government of New Zealand, the program aims to build leadership capacity and contribute to sustainable development.

Priority Sectors

Applicants must align their proposed studies with one of the following priority development areas:

• Climate resilience, science and environment
• Economic resilience and the private sector
• Food security and agriculture
• Governance
• Infrastructure
• Peace, security and justice
• Resilient societies

Programs of study should clearly demonstrate how they contribute to development outcomes in the applicant’s home country.

Scholarship recipients may study at the following New Zealand institutions:

• Lincoln University
• Massey University
• University of Auckland
• University of Canterbury
• University of Otago
• University of Waikato
• Victoria University of Wellington
• Southern Institute of Technology
• Unitec Institute of Technology

Applicants must apply to eligible programs offered at these institutions.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be from an eligible country
• Apply for full-time postgraduate study (Master’s or PhD level)
• Demonstrate alignment with priority development sectors
• Meet academic and English language requirements
• Intend to return to their home country after completion
