    The Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH) has opened applications for the position of Nairobi Research Facilitator, offering an opportunity for experienced research professionals to contribute to capacity building, mentorship, and refugee-led research initiatives in Kenya.

    The successful candidate will be based at the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, where they will coordinate and deliver the organization’s Graduate Traineeship Programme. The role focuses on supporting emerging researchers while strengthening refugee leadership in research across Kenya.

    Supporting the Next Generation of Researchers

    The Nairobi Research Facilitator will play a central role in delivering RLRH’s Graduate Traineeship, working closely with recent graduates of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program as they transition into research and professional careers.

    The position combines project coordination, mentorship, and research facilitation, providing participants with practical skills, guidance, and opportunities to undertake independent research projects that address issues affecting displaced communities and wider society.

    The facilitator will provide personalized support to a cohort of six graduate trainees, helping them strengthen their research capabilities while promoting inclusive and community-driven approaches to knowledge generation.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will oversee the implementation of RLRH’s Graduate Traineeship Programme and support research activities across Kenya.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating and delivering the Graduate Traineeship Programme in Nairobi.
    • Providing one-to-one mentorship to a cohort of six graduate trainees.
    • Designing and facilitating research training workshops and learning sessions.
    • Supporting independent researchers throughout the research process by providing detailed guidance and constructive feedback.
    • Coordinating qualitative research activities across Kenya.
    • Strengthening collaboration between trainees, researchers, and partner organizations.
    • Promoting refugee-led and community-driven research practices.

    The role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple research and training activities simultaneously while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

    Qualifications and Experience

    RLRH is seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in qualitative research, project coordination, and learner support.

    Preferred qualifications and skills include:

    • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methods.
    • Experience coordinating research or development projects.
    • Proven ability to mentor, teach, or support learners through structured training programmes.
    • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience engaging with communities in Kenya or the wider East African region.
    • A strong commitment to promoting refugee leadership and participatory research approaches.

    Candidates who understand the social, cultural, and policy contexts affecting displaced communities will be well-positioned to contribute to the programme’s objectives.
