🧭 Role Overview

The DR-TB Quality Improvement Coordinator (QIC) will play a critical role in strengthening accountability, data utilization, and clinical governance within existing TB control structures such as NTBLCP and STBLCP.

Rather than creating parallel systems, the coordinator will enhance ongoing systems to ensure that every laboratory-confirmed DR-TB case is identified, initiated on treatment promptly, and retained throughout care using digital adherence tools.

The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders including KNCV Nigeria, IHVN, and national TB programmes.

📌 Key Responsibilities

🔹 Cascade Coordination & Patient Management
• Ensure all DR-TB patients are tracked, initiated on treatment, and retained in care
• Support State DR-TB Focal Persons in aligning patient management with national guidelines
• Facilitate rapid treatment initiation and laboratory monitoring
• Participate in monthly clinical reviews and expert meetings

🔹 Community & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with Community TB/HIV Workers (CTHWs)
• Strengthen adherence, follow-up, and contact tracing efforts
• Support both community-based and facility-based DR-TB care models

🔹 Digital Health Integration
• Utilize platforms such as CommTB, MedAdher, ClientShot, and VTR Mobile Academy
• Ensure real-time patient tracking and adherence monitoring
• Deploy tools for patient feedback and data-driven decision-making

🔹 Capacity Strengthening
• Provide on-the-job mentoring to healthcare workers and TB programme staff
• Conduct quarterly data validation and audits
• Strengthen compliance with DST-aligned treatment regimens

🔹 Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement
• Conduct root cause analysis for delayed treatment initiation
• Ensure patient feedback informs programme improvement
• Support DR-TB expert panels and case reviews

🔹 Reporting & Documentation
• Submit monthly cascade and performance reports
• Prepare morbidity and mortality summaries
• Document case studies and support research publications

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

✔ Degree in a health-related field with strong interest in DR-TB
✔ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in DR-TB programmes or public health coordination
✔ Experience using digital health platforms (CommTB, DHIS, etc.)
✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
✔ Experience in training and mentoring healthcare workers
✔ Knowledge of WHO 2025 DR-TB guidelines
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tools (Excel, Power BI)
✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
✔ Ability to travel within assigned state
