    CJS Lab aims to reshape carbon markets to prioritize community leadership, equity, and ecological integrity.

    Position Overview

    CJS Lab is seeking a skilled and motivated part-time Fundraising Contractor to spearhead and execute its fundraising strategies over the next six months.

    This remote role involves close collaboration with the Founding Director and Operations Manager.

    The ideal candidate has a background in climate or conservation fundraising, existing philanthropic relationships, and proficiency in grant writing.

    They should be comfortable working independently within a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans targeting foundations, carbon market stakeholders, and sustainability donors.
    • Identify and research potential funding sources through philanthropic networks, LinkedIn, and sector-specific communities.

    • Lead the drafting, refining, and management of grant proposals, reports, and fundraising materials that effectively communicate the CJS Lab’s mission and align with funder priorities.
    • Manage internal databases, ensuring accurate records of donor interactions, pledges, and grant timelines.
    • Provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders on fundraising efforts and outcomes.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in fundraising, marketing, environmental science, sustainability, or related fields.
    • Extensive experience in climate, conservation, or sustainability fundraising and donor relations.
    • Proven success in securing funding from climate-focused philanthropies, ESG-aligned institutions, or similar entities.

    • Strong network within the philanthropic and sustainability communities.
    • Experience with fundraising software, CRM systems, and proposal development tools.
    • Ability to build and sustain relationships with donors prioritizing environmental and social impact.

    • Knowledge of carbon markets, conservation finance, and sustainability reporting frameworks is highly desirable.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts into compelling narratives.
    • Collaborative, relationship-oriented, and capable of working effectively within a small team.
