Key Responsibilities of the Program Manager

The Program Manager will provide cross-functional support across PSI’s global project portfolio. The role requires coordination with country teams, technical departments, subcontractors, and network partners to ensure programme success.

Core responsibilities include:

Monitoring implementation of global projects, including workplans, deliverables, and subawards
Ensuring technical quality and operational consistency across multiple country programmes
Supporting financial management, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting
Assisting in new business development, including proposal writing and strategy design
Managing recruitment, training, and performance of programme staff
Supporting donor relations and compliance with funding requirements
Contributing to internal knowledge management systems and organisational learning
Participating in development of programme management standards and SOPs

The role also involves international travel of approximately 10–25 percent.

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

PSI is seeking experienced professionals with strong backgrounds in international development, programme management, and health systems work.

Minimum requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree preferred)
At least seven years of relevant professional experience
Experience in international development or donor-funded programmes (e.g., USAID, FCDO, UN agencies, World Bank, KfW)
Strong financial management and budget tracking skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
Excellent communication skills across multicultural environments
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and staff effectively
Experience working in fast-paced, multi-country programme environments

Preferred qualifications include:

Master’s degree in a related discipline
At least one year of supervisory experience
French language skills (preferred but not required)
Experience in health programming or public health systems strengthening

Salary ranges are structured as follows:

United States: $94,000 minimum to $140,000 maximum annually
Kenya: $37,000 minimum to $68,000 maximum annually

Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, internal equity considerations, and market benchmarks.
