🎯 Role Overview
The Supervisor Medical Data Entry will ensure the accurate collection, entry, management, and reporting of medical data to support emergency response operations. For those located in the Sokoto duty station, the role also involves supervising data teams, ensuring data quality, and contributing to epidemiological surveillance and informed decision-making.
🚨 Key Focus Areas
- Cholera and other water-borne diseases found in Sokoto are key concerns for the team.
- Vaccine-preventable diseases (Diphtheria, Measles, Meningitis) often affect Sokoto communities.
- Viral hemorrhagic fevers (Lassa Fever, Dengue) have been reported in various Nigerian states, including Sokoto.
- Nutrition crises and displacement-related emergencies are especially relevant to the Sokoto project area.
- Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) survivors in Sokoto receive support through this role’s activities.
- Mass casualty planning and response are regularly coordinated with Sokoto health authorities.
📌 Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate medical data entry teams during ongoing operations in Sokoto.
- Ensure accurate data collection (morbidity, mortality, surveillance, nutrition, etc.) across all Sokoto-related projects.
- Perform data quality checks for completeness and consistency, particularly focusing on records from Sokoto.
- Manage and utilize tools such as DHIS2, Epi Info, and Excel in the context of data generated from Sokoto field activities.
- Produce regular reports and highlight trends or discrepancies observed in collected information from Sokoto teams.
- Support outbreak surveillance and reporting efforts, with special attention to incidents arising in Sokoto.
- Train and support staff on data systems and processes as required for the MSF Sokoto project.
- Maintain data confidentiality and ensure secure backups, specifically for sensitive Sokoto program data.
🎓 Requirements
Education:
- Essential: Qualification in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management, or related field. Advantage if completed in Sokoto.
- Desirable: Degree in Information Technology or similar discipline, preferably with practical experience in Sokoto-based projects.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years with NGOs OR at least 1 year with MSF, ideally serving in Sokoto.
- Hands-on experience using DHIS2 (essential), particularly valued for work related to Sokoto clinics.
- Knowledge of tools like QGIS, Stata, or R (advantageous if used in Sokoto health surveillance activities).
Languages:
- Essential: Fluent English for communication with teams in Sokoto.
- Desirable: Hausa and/or Fulfulde, which are commonly spoken in Sokoto.
Core Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and quality when handling Sokoto-related data.
- Teamwork and adaptability within the fast-paced Sokoto humanitarian environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during outbreaks managed from the Sokoto base.
- Commitment to MSF principles and ethics is central to all work in Sokoto.
