Key Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical strategy and architecture for Homefeed, Search, and AI Assistant.
• Drive a multi-year roadmap for unifying retrieval and ranking systems.
• Architect large-scale retrieval and ranking systems to enhance relevance and monetization.
• Set technical direction for experimentation and evaluation frameworks.
• Provide hands-on leadership on high-leverage projects while mentoring senior engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Research, and Design to align technical plans with product strategies.
• Promote engineering excellence in reliability, performance, security, and operational health.
• Represent Pinterest in external forums to attract and grow talent.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in large-scale systems or machine learning.
• Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or equivalent.
• Expertise in retrieval and ranking, representation learning, and search systems.
• Experience with large language models and generative AI.
• Ability to drive architectural transformations at scale.
• Strong communication skills for articulating strategy and direction.
• Passion for mentoring and building engineering cultures.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Benefits

Base salary range of $242,634 – $449,541 USD, eligibility for equity, and comprehensive benefits available.

Location

Remote within the US; occasional in-office collaboration may be required.
