Overview
The role of Principal Product Manager for Telemetry Collection is with the Observability team at Elastic, focused on developing solutions for application developers and engineers that support infrastructure and services. The position involves driving the strategy and execution of telemetry collectors and remote management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the product vision, go-to-market strategy, and execution roadmap for the Elastic Agent framework, Fleet Server/Service, and telemetry collectors.
- Define and track KPIs focused on agent deployment success, pipeline efficiency, and the adoption of OTel distributions.
- Oversee the packaging, testing, and distribution of the Elastic Agent and its various distributions.
- Drive remote management capabilities for Elastic Agent, Fleet Server, and collector infrastructure.
- Focus on Kubernetes management and release strategies for cloud-native deployments.
- Guide the ongoing development of OpenTelemetry (OTel) as a primary data shipper.
- Manage Filebeat and oversee the Beats repository.
- Lead product initiatives for Logstash improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, UX, and product marketing teams.
- Act as a spokesperson for Elastic’s agent framework and collection capabilities.
Requirements
- Five years in a Product Management role focused on enterprise infrastructure observability or telemetry collection.
- Technical familiarity with collectors, log shippers, and agent ecosystems like OpenTelemetry Collector.
- Experience in defining requirements for remote agent management and distributed edge collection systems.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes operators and Helm Charts.
- Previous experience in IT Ops, DevOps, or SRE roles is ideal.
- Expertise in OpenTelemetry standards and architectures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong familiarity with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats).
