Principal Product Manager, Telemetry Collection - Observability @Elastic

Overview

The role of Principal Product Manager, Telemetry Collection is part of the Observability team at Elastic. The team focuses on developing solutions for application developers and engineers, utilizing Elasticsearch to efficiently manage logs, metrics, and application traces.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the product vision, go-to-market strategy, and execution roadmap for the Elastic Agent framework, Fleet Server/Service, and telemetry collectors.
• Track KPIs focused on agent deployment success, pipeline efficiency, and adoption of OTel distributions.
• Oversee the packaging, testing, and distribution of the Elastic Agent and related solutions.
• Drive remote management capabilities for Elastic Agent and collector infrastructure.
• Focus on the vision and release strategy for cloud-native deployments, specifically with Kubernetes.
• Advance OpenTelemetry development efforts related to Elastic Agent.
• Manage Filebeat and oversee the maintenance of the Beats repository.
• Lead product initiatives for Logstash to enhance the user experience.
• Collaborate with engineering, UX, and product marketing teams.
• Act as spokesperson for Elastic’s agent framework and collection capabilities.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years in a Product Management role with a focus on enterprise infrastructure observability, telemetry collection, or agent frameworks.
• Technical familiarity with collectors, log shippers, and agent ecosystems including OpenTelemetry.
• Experience in defining requirements for remote agent management.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes operators and Helm Charts.
• Background in IT Ops, DevOps, or as a solution architect is ideal.
• Expertise in OpenTelemetry standards and architectures.
• Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts into business goals.
• Familiarity with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats).
