    Overview

    The role of Principal Product Manager for Telemetry Collection within Elastic’s Observability team focuses on strategy and execution for edge telemetry collectors and remote management capabilities. The Observability team is responsible for developing solutions that support application developers and engineers in managing infrastructure and services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define the product vision, go-to-market strategy, and execution roadmap for the Elastic Agent framework, Fleet Server/Service, and telemetry collectors.
    • Define and track KPIs focused on agent deployment success, pipeline efficiency, and the adoption of OpenTelemetry distributions.
    • Oversee the packaging, testing, and distribution of the Elastic Agent.
    • Drive remote management capabilities to ensure smooth deployment and control at scale.
    • Drive the vision and release strategy for cloud-native deployments, particularly for Kubernetes.
    • Advance OpenTelemetry as a primary data shipper and guide the ongoing development of related architectures.
    • Manage and oversee Filebeat and the maintenance of the Beats repository.
    • Lead product initiatives for Logstash to improve supportability and performance.
    • Work closely with engineering, UX, and product marketing to deliver a compelling management and collector experience.
    • Act as a spokesperson for Elastic’s agent framework and collection capabilities at various events.

    Requirements

    • At least five years in a Product Management role focused on enterprise infrastructure observability or telemetry collection.
    • Technical familiarity with collectors, log shippers, and agent ecosystems such as OpenTelemetry Collector.
    • Experience defining requirements for remote agent management and distributed collection systems.
    • Familiarity with Kubernetes operators and Helm Charts.
    • Experience in IT Ops, DevOps, SRE, or as a customer-facing architect is ideal.
    • Expertise in OpenTelemetry standards and architectures.
    • Excellent communication skills to translate technical architectures into business goals.
    • Strong familiarity with the Elastic Stack.
