Overview
The role involves joining the globally distributed, fully remote Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team as a Principal Software Developer. The team develops core storage and query technologies for observability workloads, focusing on storage efficiency and query processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Initiate cross-organizational initiatives to build observability solutions.
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team on Elasticsearch logs and metrics capabilities.
- Introduce best practices for clean coding and system improvements.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor within the engineering organization.
- Triage and resolve issues related to Elasticsearch, collaborating with domain experts.
- Write modern Java code, as Elasticsearch is predominantly Java-based.
Requirements
- Ability to collaborate across teams and transition between projects effectively.
- Strong autonomous work ethic with efficient communication in a distributed team.
- A proven track record in utilizing AI for development and debugging complex systems.
- Experience in indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
- Proficient with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Strong core Java skills and understanding of concurrency primitives.
