Key Responsibilities

• Own core performance engineering initiatives from architecture to production, focusing on delivering high-impact optimizations.
• Develop foundational performance models for complex, distributed systems.
• Drive optimization strategies to ensure Elasticsearch remains performant and scalable.
• Profile and analyze system behavior to identify bottlenecks in logging and metrics.
• Ensure robust performance benchmarks and regression detection for various architectures.
• Collaborate across the company to embed performance-first thinking into new features.
• Design AI-assisted optimization tools to streamline profiling and benchmarking efforts.
• Mentor and coach other engineers in performance-aware development.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Proven experience in profiling and optimizing distributed systems with benchmarking tools.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture and scaling challenges.
• Experience using AI to accelerate optimization and debug performance issues.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and manage transitions between projects.
• Capability to work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team setting.
