Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to produce a leading vector database offering, supplying speed and relevance in search.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch full-time by building new search features and resolving bugs.
• Work with a globally distributed team focused on vector search capabilities.
• Become an expert on vector similarity as it relates to search relevance.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests, occasionally handling them yourself.
• Write idiomatic modern Java; Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.

Requirements

• Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases.
• Strong skills in core Java and knowledge of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Autonomy in project management from beginning to end.
• Effective collaborative skills, especially in remote settings.
• Familiarity with various data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of utilizing AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Ability to shift between different projects and teams as needed.
