Overview
The role involves joining the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team as a Principal Software Engineer, focusing on developing core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions.
- Work with a globally distributed team on logs and metrics capabilities of Elasticsearch.
- Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and improve system behaviors across the platform.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor across key areas of Elasticsearch.
- Collaborate on issue triage, resolution, and pull requests with domain experts.
- Write idiomatic modern Java as Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.
Requirements
- Ability to collaborate across functions and teams while transitioning between different projects.
- Proven track record of using AI for development and optimization.
- Experience in efficiently indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
- Knowledge of data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, an understanding of their functionality.
- Strong core Java skills with a deep understanding of concurrency primitives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating respect and professionalism in collaboration.
