Overview
The Programme Officer – ECHO position with Christian Aid offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to humanitarian response efforts in Northwest and Northeast Nigeria. This full-time role is designed for experienced professionals passionate about delivering life-saving assistance to vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the ECHO-funded Goyon Baya Response Project ensuring technical expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) and operational responsibilities in Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA).
- Operationalise the Rapid Response and Referral Mechanism (RRRM) focusing on urgent humanitarian needs and coordinating swift interventions.
- Lead rapid needs assessments, beneficiary targeting, and delivery of assistance while ensuring alignment with humanitarian standards.
- Oversee WaSH activities including rehabilitation of water points and hygiene promotion campaigns.
- Support MPCA processes, including beneficiary registration and digital cash transfers.
- Facilitate strong community engagement with local partners and community leaders.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities using digital tools.
- Uphold safeguarding principles and adhere to security protocols in challenging environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or Development Studies.
- 4–5 years of humanitarian experience, particularly in northern Nigeria.
- Strong knowledge in WaSH programming and experience in emergency response.
- Familiarity with cash-based interventions and coordination mechanisms.
- Ability to work in insecure and remote settings.
