Overview
Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is hiring a Senior Policy Officer for its Health Tax Unit, focusing on tax justice and public health policy across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee implementation of Health Tax Unit projects and support national and regional partners.
- Monitor outcomes and performance of sub-grantees and implementing partners.
- Develop and draft policy briefs and knowledge products.
- Maintain a knowledge hub on tobacco control and global health tax trends.
- Coordinate cross-cutting workstreams with other policy areas.
- Review research outputs from academic and technical partners.
- Support international meetings, conferences, and partnership engagements.
- Prepare reports, proposals, budgets, and monitoring & evaluation frameworks.
- Manage donor relationships and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate internally to align health tax initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Enhance programme visibility and contribute to fundraising efforts.
Requirements
- Master’s or postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Public Policy, Law, Public Health, or Development Studies.
- At least five years of experience in policy analysis, research, or advocacy.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation and grant management.
- Familiarity with tax justice and domestic resource mobilisation in Africa.
- Strong analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as STATA, SAS, or Python.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
