    Transform Justice Job Summary

    Job Title: Research and Policy Officer
    Location: Remote working with regular in-person meetings in London, option to hot-desk at Old Street office, London (up to two days/week)

    Contract: One-year renewable contract
    Salary: £29,000 – £32,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
    Hours: Full-time (open to part-time 3-4 days/week)
    Reporting to: Deputy Director

    Key projects include the #FairChecks campaign for criminal records reform, CourtWatch London, and initiatives to reduce unnecessary pre-trial detention of children.

    Role Overview

    Transform Justice is seeking an experienced Research and Policy Officer to support its efforts in reforming the justice system.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the director, deputy director, and communications team to conduct research, draft policy briefings, and coordinate events.

    The role involves supporting projects such as CourtWatch London and initiatives to decrease pre-trial imprisonment of children.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including interviews, surveys, FOI requests, and data analysis
    • Review academic and policy documents to inform advocacy efforts
    • Write, edit, and proofread reports, briefings, and submissions

    • Liaise with policymakers and stakeholders, organize meetings and draft correspondence
    • Coordinate online and in-person events supporting advocacy work
    • Support the CourtWatch London project, including volunteer engagement and data review
    • Assist in drafting funding applications and other administrative tasks

    Skills and Experience

    • At least two years’ experience in a research or policy role
    • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, with the ability to analyze data and produce insights
    • Clear and concise communicator, both verbally and in writing

    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Genuine interest in criminal justice policy and a commitment to Transform Justice’s mission
