    Introduction

    The Bridgforte Centre for Global Impact is seeking applications for a Research Fellow to support its 2026 programme on financial sector development, governance, and inclusion across Africa.

    This opportunity is open to advanced master’s students, doctoral candidates, and early-career researchers with a strong interest in financial systems, policy, and development.

    About the Opportunity

    Africa’s financial landscape is undergoing rapid transformation driven by digital infrastructure, new market entrants, and evolving regulatory interactions.

    The Research Fellow will contribute to understanding the critical issues of trust, governance, and system resilience within this context.

    The Centre collaborates with policymakers and industry leaders to shape effective financial governance frameworks and promote financial inclusion through evidence-based research.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct targeted research within a specific area of financial sector development, governance, or inclusion in Africa
    • Produce clear, structured insight briefs and policy analyses
    • Undertake comparative analysis across jurisdictions and financial systems where relevant

    • Prepare briefing materials for Bridgforte convenings, including the Trust Lab
    • Synthesize discussions into actionable insights
    • Collaborate with the Centre’s Founder to refine arguments and enhance clarity

    Fellowship Details

    • Duration: 15 June – 30 August 2026
    • Format: Remote participation, with opportunities to engage in selected convenings
    • Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week
    • Stipend: USD $1,500 per month

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Advanced master’s students, doctoral candidates, or early-career researchers engaged in financial systems, inclusion, or related policy fields
    • Foundational knowledge in areas such as financial policy/regulation, banking, fintech, financial inclusion, development finance, or public policy
    • Ability to think critically, communicate precisely, work independently, and translate research into practical insights
    • Demonstrated analytical maturity and capacity to engage with real-world financial system issues

    • Curriculum Vitae (max three pages)
    • Statement of Interest (max 600 words), outlining motivation, relevant experience, and a brief analytical discussion (300-400 words) on a current challenge in financial services or inclusion
    • One writing sample demonstrating analytical or policy-oriented work
