Position Overview
The Administrator: Committee will provide administrative support to standards writers, SABS committees and committee chairpersons.
The role will focus on coordinating committee activities, managing documentation, maintaining records and ensuring effective communication between stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Administration and Coordination
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Scheduling and coordinating annual committee meeting plans.
- Organising logistics for committee meetings and supporting pre- and post-meeting activities.
- Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and supporting documentation.
- Recording minutes, resolutions and action items within required timelines.
- Circulating meeting outcomes and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
- Monitoring outstanding actions and following up with responsible stakeholders.
- Maintaining committee stakeholder records and databases.
- Registering stakeholders and ensuring required documentation is completed.
- Updating SABS Standards databases, membership records and committee information.
- Uploading updated documents, questionnaires and committee information onto relevant systems.
- Archiving committee records, including minutes, reports, draft standards and resolutions.
- Providing administrative support to standards writers, committee secretaries and chairpersons.
Risk, Governance and Compliance Support
The role will also include:
- Supporting fraud prevention controls and risk management processes.
- Ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures and legislation.
- Providing documentation and support for audits, accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management
The Administrator: Committee will:
- Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a central contact point for committee-related enquiries.
- Coordinate communication between committees, stakeholders and SABS teams.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve queries within agreed timelines.
- Participate in meetings, committees and task teams when required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Diploma in Administration, Office Management, Journalism, Records Management, Information Management, or Archives and Records Management.
- Minimum NQF Level 5 qualification.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- 1–2 years’ experience in administration or a related environment.
- Experience in records management, document control, minute taking, information management or maintaining administrative records.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
- Good stakeholder engagement skills.
