    Overview

    The role of Security Engineer, Institutional Trading at Blockchain involves ensuring the secure operation of off-chain trading processes and infrastructure. This position is embedded within the Institutional Trading and Financial Operations team and is responsible for mitigating risks associated with trading activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Partner with Trading, Middle Office, and Quant teams to assess trading systems, data flows, and third-party integrations.
    • Conduct assessments to identify structural vulnerabilities and draft strategic Risk Treatment Plans.
    • Serve as the primary security liaison for Senior Management and vendors, summarizing technical gaps into business risks.
    • Implement monitoring for FinOps-specific security signals and integrate them into SIEM/SOAR.
    • Support secrets and key-management hygiene, ensuring keys are stored securely and rotated.
    • Assist product security in triage of findings and implement CI checks.
    • Participate in incident exercises and post-incident reviews for trading incidents.
    • Document controls and produce risk summaries for FinOps leads and Security.
    • Research and integrate AI utilities and Large Language Model agents into secure infrastructure.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years in security engineering or a related field.
    • Expertise in Threat Modeling and ability to perform structured reviews.
    • Experience with observability and detection tooling.
    • Practical knowledge of KMS/HSM, secrets management platforms, and IAM patterns.
    • Ability to translate technical debt into business risk summaries for stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in auditing Pull Requests in TypeScript, Java/Kotlin, or Python.
    • Experience with technical due diligence on third-party integrations.

    Location

    This role is based in the London office with a mandatory in-office presence four days per week. Remote work is available for a limited number of days.
