Overview

Customer.io is seeking a curious, AI-forward Developer Experience Engineer to join their Integrations team. The role involves building tools that developers rely on for integration with Customer.io, a platform utilized by over 9,000 companies worldwide to send billions of communications daily.

Key Responsibilities

Build and evolve Customer.io's SDKs across platforms including Android, iOS, Node, and Go.
Lead SDK initiatives end to end: set technical direction, write the code, manage the release, and own the outcome.
Improve SDK delivery infrastructure, including CI, automated testing, versioning, publishing, and release processes.
Collaborate with product and design teams to create a great developer experience.
Utilize AI agents for multi-file changes in unfamiliar codebases and languages.
Engage directly with engineers integrating with our SDKs to understand their needs.

Requirements

Expert-level competency in at least one established programming language.
Experience in building and evolving mature, production-quality software.
Exceptional fluency with current LLMs and agentic coding tools.
High autonomy in ambiguous environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively across multiple languages and stacks.

Nice to have experience includes building external-facing SDKs, APIs, or developer tools; owning CI, testing, versioning, or release infrastructure; or forward-deployed engineering experience.

Benefits

Starting salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 USD, depending on experience.
